Thursday I thought would be the perfect day to rehit some sites I detected at during the summer. This particular site actually had 3 cellar holes all within short walking distance of each other and was where I found my war of 1812 button. Anyway's after hiking almost 2 miles I made it to the site. These sites are completely in the middle of no where, no paths or trails whatsoever. Still, hiking was much easier than during the summer time. Dug 8 buttons, a small tongue to a shoe buckle. Some other brass and my favorite find of the day, an early and ornate colonial pewter spoon handle. This made the trip worth it. Saturday I was originally gonna go with Jarrod but he couldn't go so I met up with Sam instead. We hit 6 sites, all were completely pounded. One of the sites (our first site) looked amazing but was probably hit by a local detectorist. A small piece of iron on the lip told the story. He hit it good, leaving only a tombac button, a 1919 Mercury dime (Sam's first silver of the year) and the usual shot gun shells. 2nd site was also pounded but I managed a quarter-cut copper. (Copper number 1.25 FTY lol). I don't know what type of copper it is but it's my first ever cut one so that's pretty cool. Rest of the day consisted of more pounded sites and few and far between finds. Oh well. Some days are gonna be like that especially now'adays. Happy hunting.

Nice finds especially for this time of year. Hope the weather holds, but I'm afraid that the cold snap we are having here in the Midwest may head your way. All of 3 degrees this afternoon in Wisconsin! :frozen::frozen:

Nice finds Jim, especially that pewter spoon handle. Even though the spots didn't really pan out I still enjoyed getting out with you.

Nice haul for an early January day. Nice set of buttons and love the quarter cut copper, more for its "uniqueness" than anything else. Makes you wonder what price an item would need to be to use that thing. $1.25.25??? :)
