Unknown Date Snake Head Buckle???

Can anyone help me on this one? Cannot find what exactly this is. Researched some similar items calling them sword buckles but none seem to have anything like the emblem on this one. Looking for country of origin and dating. Was found in NY, on grounds that have produced early 1800's coins.

It looks like an Eagle to me but that's all I can say for sure. Nice Find!

It's part of an "S" link buckle but I think you know that by now.
