I was up at my cottage last week and found some great things. Included was a cuff button that has an eagle on it. When I first found it I was excited thinking it was a military button but after looking through Albert's US Military Button book I could not find it.
So I thought I would post it here for your thoughts. I am thinking it might be a Patriotic button? It was found at a site where I have found multiple War of 1812 era buttons and fur trade era items. So this button likely was made prior to 1815 and it would not surprise me if not in the late 1700's. The back has some gold gilt on it and states "Double Gilt".

Please let me know your thoughts.
