Where is everyone? Too quiet here!

I've been away from detecting and the group for a while due to personal reasons and working crazy hours. I finally got some detecting time while suddenly finding myself unemployed between job hunting and waiting for call backs, interviews, etc.
When I was last here we had a thriving core community and almost daily posts, and always plenty of comments on finds, IDs, etc Now, crickets for the most part. I see the forum went through a face-lift but is essentially the same.
So, where did everyone go?

Hi Digger_O'Dell! Sadly, Facebook Groups and Instagram are slowly replacing metal detecting forums. In a way, we're lucky that this forum still exists at all. Even most of our moderators seem to have disappeared. I'm not casting blame on anyone, I have been lax about posting as well.

Honestly, I don't see it getting any better. We are thankful for the users who still post and comment. I will try to do better in that regard myself.

Hey Tony, great to hear from you!

I've looked around a bit and see other forums, and they seem to be pretty active. I know it's getting late in the season, but that again should expose more areas as the undergrowth clears up and fields get harvested.

I personally hate Facebook groups, and don't use IG, etc and don't see the appeal. Maybe we should look more into putting some meet ups together for group hunts, or even sharing possible sites/permissions to help build the community.
