White's Focus Group

I have been getting a lot of questions over the last few days in regards to my current adventure here in Sweet Home Oregon. Some of you may or may not know that myself and Dave Wise were hand picked along with 6 other people through out the country by White's Electronics as part of a "Focus Group". We flew out here on Sunday and will be boarding our flight back today out of Portland Oregon. This has been an amazing experience in which we have met some amazing people, an adventure I will never forget.I can't really say much or get in to specific details however, I would like to let you all know that Dave and I are very pleased and extremely excited for the direction that White's is headed in. Stay tuned folks...I think you may be impressed

That is beyond cool Todd. I HOPE they listen hard !! It's a tough business. You make your money marketing to the masses but you still need to make machines that satisfy us detectorists that demand high performance under a very specific set of conditions.

That is totally cool, Todd! They couldn't have picked two better detectorists than you and Dave! I bet it was a great experience for you both.

I've been :lipssealed: and waiting on either you or Dave to chime in about your trip !!

I was very proud to see you and Dave picked for this honor .

Seems you two weren't the only relic hunters in this focus group , huh ??? very interesting :cheering: It makes me very excited to think of the kinds of of topics or challenges you relic and cellar dwellers discussed with the focus group and engineers . hope to hear more about it Todd and see if Whites had any remedies for them.

Dan

The great thing about this is that White's wants to know what "we" as a community of detectorist want in a product and more importantly what the future of the hobby is. They truly get it guys, they understand that we are all in this together as a family.

Is it something still tight lipped as to how they came upon selecting you two? Obvi you have both been using the MXT, or at least when I got out with you. Congrats on the privilege. Good to hear white's is understanding the hobby.

I been looking to possibly step-up, eventually. I have noticed that it seems like there is just big void where the intermediate/pro level should be. You can get some beginner- intermediate between $50 and $350, but once you want dual frequency it just shoots to $1000. Sure the EDIT: CZ-3D has dual, but the display is just so old fashioned in a large clunky box. I, myself, have an idea that would be a big change to detectors to allow more of an imaging and I am sure it is feasible. I'm with Dan on hoping to hear more about it.

Without getting into specifics Jim, I think that your going to be happy in the near future.

What a great opportunity! Thanks for being a great ambassador for our hobby. Whites makes great machines and I'm eager to see what they'll put out next. Also eager to hear if there's anything else you can disclose:cool: have a safe flight home and hope the snow melts off quick for you guys in NE. HH!

This is exciting! Glad to see you guys are being recognized.
Jim, the F75 is getting dual frequency? I'd buy it tomorrow. I'd love to work with its light weight, familiar tones, and 2 frequencies!

It is nice to see a company call in people who use their products daily and use them as successfully as you guys do. That way they get input on what the people who are using them can tell them what they like to see changed. Some times manufacturers will make a change or add a feature because they can rather than what the end customer would like to have.

Congratz to you Dave, Todd!! Whites, as well as the detecting community, will benefit from you guys input.

Should we be looking here information and updates or some other web site?

Thanks ... keep an eye out here or on our face book pages and FB groups

Thanks Drew. It's not about Dave and I, It's about all of us, the entire metal detecting community

They listened and took notice.:thumbsup01:

cool photos Dave , just look at all those coil windings bet it was very interesting to see the different types (double D's , concentric) compared to the older coil windings .

Nice! It must have been cool seeing some of their old units. Also you gotta love White's address....Pleasant Valley Road, Sweet Home, OR.....

This is a great that White's has recognized the both of you. Your exploits in the field are the best and your knowledge of the machines is tops. Sounds like it was a very productive trip. Would we know any of the other detectorists there?
