We found this nice piece of an Abwurfbehälter 250 - The german Drop supply canister / Supply bomb / Parachute container.
This jerrycan was a part of a so-called supply drop container. Inside this container, which looked like a bomb or maybe a rocket, where supplies were stored in separate drums like this which we found. The whole 250 kg supply drop canister was dropped from a plane, then the parachute opened by the timer and a whole shipment easily landed on the ground, where the soldiers could open it and take what they needed to take. It was used by the paratroopers on their missions and also by the german air force to deliver supplies for regular units on the ground.
