Crotal Bells, buckles, 3 ringer +

Hit a couple of my favorite spots yesterday and the day before and came up with some neat stuff. I always like finding crotal bells and these two were about 100' apart. I didn't realize I had a three ringer until I got home. Saw the flattened side and thought it was just another piece of lead from the woods. The Lincolns were 1916 and 1918. Have no idea what the spoked piece is. Looks like it might have been screwed to something and is probably upside down in the photo.

The spoked thing: It really has large spokes which would make it seem difficult to use, but it looks exactly like an antique apple slicer. The round core hole in the middle with 8 spoked sections around it. Maybe with the two holes it screwed into an armature. I'd hate to call the entire thing a machine.. and apparatus maybe? Not very big piece either, although apples today are steroidal and 10x larger than they used to be.

Nice crotal bells Don. They look silvery. Are they Tombac material? I love finding them too, from the tiny ones to the monster ones :lol:

No initials on the, just the number 2 which I assume is the size.

Great finds, I also love to dig the crotal bells. Looks like a couple of definite "D" buckles also. I've dug 6 but my wife actually gave one away.

The very first thing that came to my mind was a pump piece too. But I ruled that out. The end of crotal bells would be cars, which were started late 1800's. They started to become popular after WWI, but they didn't use liquid cooled engines (water pumps) until after WWII. The very late 1800's was the start of electric pumps in industry. One significant date for industrial pumps going electric was 1908. But I don't think they added pieces like that in unless it was to filter. Meat grinders do have end pieces I agree, but those look like sink/floor drains. Some have large round holes, some have many smaller holes, some have four large curved oval sections. The hot dog/sausage casers are more like nipple shaped. That and the shape of what he found is why I went with apple slicer.
