My first Civil War battlefield hunt

I feel so honored to have been invited by a couple (Hillbilly Dave, Linda) and their son Ron (I met them at our local MD club) to join them in a hunt of property next to Perryville Battlefield in Ky. As you can see in the pics, it's beautiful country.

Sunny in the 40's :happydance01:

Everyone did good finding some relics; buckshot, mini-balls and such. I found a 200 yr old civilian button. The pics don't do it justice- it says Warranted Fine Gold Surface w/sun rays, all in gold lettering. It was out in the middle of nowhere in a field near an old cellar hole! I'm looking forward to going back.

If anything it was a fun adventure, getting in touch with nature and good excercise! And got some great pics. I love the sunset with the silhouettes of the detectorists against the sky...

Great hunt Tana! :peace:

You folks looked armed for business.

Sure would be exciting to be able to hunt on a CW battlefield.

Great site, great weather, great finds... doesn't really get better.

Congrats on the button. :clapping: All pictures are great... but the silhouette of the hunters on the horizon is fantastic.

ah yes , we demand some clear closeups on that button :eyebrow: don't be a tease :teasing: thats a beautiful area and the old cellar area is an exciting one , hope you get a chance to go back Tana . its nice to get out with friends and share this hobby. congrats again

Howdy Kiddo!
I'd love to have a shot at a Civil War site, but we didn't get much Civil War type activity around these parts.
So, here in Colorado, pickin's are slim in that particular regard.

Maybe one day I'll travel east enough to take a shot at it. Looks like a load of fun!

Blessings,
M-Taliesin

That looks like soooo much fun, congrats on the cool old flatbutton and excellent pictures thumbsup01 I'd be looking forward to going back there too

Whats that greenish stuff on the ground ? Wheres all the snow ?? lol :bangahead01:
That's not fair !! :crying02: :crying02: lol

Now a civil war site?!!! You get to hunt all the good spots !! :envious: Who found the three ringer ?

And yeah your not doing the button justice with those pics. I'd love to see the detail on it
Try to take the pictures outside. Mine usually come out 100% better in natural light thumbsup01 Do you have macro on your camera ?

I like the picture of the three soldiers walking into the sunset, leaving the battlefield, with their weapons of choice and their tools of the trade at there sides......

Great post Tawna !!
Congrats on the finds

Nice finds Tana. I think that button is hiding some more gilt under that dirt. Great looking photos too!! :happydance01:

I can't get outside to get some good light because there's 40 mph wind out there... :frozen: :frozen: :frozen:

Okay I admit it, my digital camera sucks! I should've asked for one for Christmas

Nice button find Tana. :envious: And it looks like everyone had a good time. That's a nice handful of lead and other artifacts too!
All the way back from Florida i saw so many places i would love to swing my coil over in Tennesee and Kentucky. Glad you got a chance to. And a cool find!

:envious: Who found the three ringer ?

Dave and Linda's son, Ron, found the 3 ringer... I was so jealous :envious: I mentioned that's the one thing I hoped I found lol down to the 3 ring part. Linda really wants to find a bullet mold. That would be so cool.
