Really neat coin spill at 1898 house!

Howdy diggers,

I was driving around and saw a nice Victorian house on a corner lot with a huge, flat yard. I realized I had all my MDing stuff in the car so on a whim, I stopped and asked permission. They gave me permission but said I don't think there's any coins though.

Right off the bat, I was digging lots of clad. After about 20 minutes, my E-Trac gave me the ole Indian signal (10-38) at about 8 inches. Out popped a 1897 in really nice shape! Over the course of 2 hours, I found about 40 clads plus 4 Indians and 2 V nickels!

At one point I got a very jumpy signal at 7 inches. It was bouncing all over the place but had a definite coin sound. I dug my hole and saw a small stack of coins stuck together. Turned out to be a 1902 V nickel, a 1878 IH, and 2 wheaties (1911D and 1919). What an odd coin spill! Here's some pics, thanks for looking!

Wow! Nice finds! That 1878 Indian is a nice semi-key date!! Congrats! My indians come in at 12-34 or 12-35. Tim, my huntin buddy's, come in at 12-32...The 12-38's for me usually end up being junk.

Sweet finds DD. Look at how one of those coins preserved the part of the V nickel it was covering. :shocked04: Great spur of the moment idea about gaining permission :clapping:

Thanks for looking. I also noticed how well that part of the nickel was preserved where the IH layed on it. It even still has the nickel color to it! Too bad all my old nickels don't come out of the ground looking that good!

Yeah me too. Mine will come in somewhere between 31 & 34 co.. 36 to 39 is usually junk........you know Zinclons  lol

Sweet old pocket spill there Dave!! I bet that one sounded kinda funny too, having that nickle in there with the pennies
I know on my DFX if I found a nickle and a dime together it would usually split the difference. A nickle will come up a 20 and a dime a 82 the DFX would show 45 lol That's why it was so jumpy. It was telling you both coins were there at the same time. thumbsup01
I love the cold call on the corner lot thumbsup01
Nice goin'!
Congrats

Wow, nice old coins. I only found one V nickel and it was totally toasted. I have to start keeping my 'tecting stuff in the car thumbsup01

:shocked04: Awesome results for a hunt. V's and Indians = FUN!! :happydance01:
Glad to hear your hunch paid off big time.
Congrats DD. :clapping:
