Finds From Recent Hunt

This past week I had the pleasure of meeting up with Epi-hunter to hit a few CT parks. We had great weather after the more recent rain, and though we ended up getting a bit muddy we had a great time. I didn't have as much success as I had hoped, but it was still much fun to get out and swing the coil.

The following were the only silver coins I picked up, but I was still quite pleased with them. ;)

I also dug up plenty of wheats, and what appears to be a (unrecognizable) copper. That one was my deepest coin of the hunt, found at between 12 and 13 inches. Much of everything else was between 7 and 9 inches. One of the parks we hit has very soft soil, so targets tend to sink deep. We were finding aluminum screw caps at 8+ inches. :shocked04:

It's too bad this silver ring took such a beating. It's still a nice find though.

An old pocket watch which I found at the first park we worked.

I picked up this compact at the same site as the pocket watch. Yes, Angie 'forced' me to open it.

I don't know what this is, but it is about the width of a quarter, and heavy.

I had a terrific time! Thanks for the company and laughs Angie! :)

Great finds. I'm stumped on the last item as well. Broken type-set maybe?

Been finding wheaties myself, but getting skunked on the silver so far. Glad to see someone else pulling in the silver.

Congrats on the silver, wheats and neat looking relics Angel! I have no idea what the last thing is either but I think Jason might be on the right track. :thumbsup01:

Wow, you found a lot of wheats! :shocked04: I found.... one wheat.

I had a lot of fun as well. I'm glad we were both able to pull some silver :)

Here are two very muddy E-tracs.

Nice Angel.. Good to see you two got out and had some good hunting. Those are some muddy detectors, we have had alot of rain. The ring looks like a nice one if it didn't get bent so badly..

Nice looking digs angel and congrats on the silver :thumbsup01:. Angie those E-Tracs look like mine mud and all, I also use the same digger and color.

Isn't it amazing GREAT something can look covered in mud? Those two detectors just look so loved, and used. Like taking a 4x4 mudding, the better it performs, the dirtier it gets.

Cool stuff! Any idea what that copper is?
I'm curious if you're going to try to clean it and if, so, what method you'll use.....

Thanks everyone! :)

I did try taking a closer look with a magnifying glass, but the copper is just too corroded for any identification. :( The soil at that park is quite harsh on coppers. I still had fun digging it though. :)

Great finds and sounds like a great hunt in the process. If there is silver there, we can count on you to find it! Good Hunting!

I absolutely love that digger! It doesn't bend no matter what I do to it... and I have put it through a lot... and it has the teeth on the side for sawing through roots. And it was only something like $10 at a detector shop. Worth every penny!

And I like that it's yellow, as it shows up well when accidentally left in the grass
