Just out of curiosity, Has anyone here or you know ever found a 20cent silver coin? Now there would be a find of a lifetime.. I didn't even know there were 20cent coins till last night.

Extremely rare to find a 20 cent piece. You have to be in an area that had a major release of them when they were first minted. Then someone has to lose one. Then you have to be detecting an area that was really popular around 1875ish, that is still an un-hit site. Then you actually have to put your coil over that little target lol. Add in the fact that they were confused by the size (close to a quarter) and were not real popular and you have a hard to find coin indeed!!!! I wish I could find one of those. 
I have yet to find one of those babies. It would make a wonderful find, no doubt.

I;ve never found one but have had one on my wish list to find since I started detecting....also would love to find a silver 3 center which is another rare find. The 20 centers were only minted between 1875-1878 and only the 1875 S had a mintage of over a million coins at 1,155,000 minted. 1875CC had a mintage of only 133,290 and the rest had mintages of under 37,000 so there weren;t many in circulation to have people lose. Myself I wanna find the 1876CC which is worth over $125,000 in MS60... :smitten:
I believe I saw a post in the last 2 years on one of the forums where someone posted he had found a 20 cent coin.A couple,2, if I remember right other people had also stated they found .20 centers.I found a silver Washington quarter that was hit by a lawnmower.It was about a .20 center,that's all that was left,smile.Bill
