Got out the other day at one of the spots I had been working and pulled this medal which I must tell you I was a little shocked to see. The back is maked 1939. Apparently it's a War Merit Medal second class with swords I believe. Just goes to show you never know what you will find.

very cool find Scott , from the 1880's to 1920's there was a huge population of German immigrants here in the states . there was also a huge fear (by this government) of them still being very loyal to their homeland and thousands did joined up to fight for their country both in WWI and WWII. its a very unique relic from a very different time . congrats Scott.

Congrats on a very interesting and historic find! May have been brought back from WWII by a soldier, many such items were brought back from Europe.

Now that just goes to show, you never know what you'll dig up. I know I would have been surprised and smiling if I had dug it. Huge :congrats: on a great find

Yea right Drew. I don't think thst would even pass as a Good Luck Charm. I'm sure the Nazi Collectors would jump at the opportunity to buy that one. I wonder if it's even legal to sell on Ebay. Maybe the German Ebay though. :interesting:

|:cheering: Nice find!

It is similiar style (minus the swastika) to the Croix De Guerre french war medal that I found next to my mothers flower bed.
