Anniversary Hunt

Thank you everybody! I really appreciate the kind words....and yes Mrs OxShoe is special!
Jim, I too was weirded out by those indentations but it turns out they were part of the design. There are four of them equidistant to the tongue...BUT it was done by hand so they are off a bit, or a lot

It was fashionable to use these brooches as neck clasps in medieval times. This is something I read on Britain History

Hello all, I'm new to the group. Thought I'd share a fur trade era brooch that was recently ID'd for me. I wasn't familiar with them before.IMG_0254a.jpg

Hello Rocker , Welcome to the forum . your item looks very old , is it iron or brass?? its a very cool and interesting piece and I'm sure looks great in a display.

Dan

Thank you for the 'welcome'. It is made of brass but, may have been silvered. It was dug in a very small area with other period pieces. The British 1/2 penny is 1739 not 1730. No date on the Irish 1/2 penny other it does bear the bust of George II as well.View attachment 45843

Drew the problem might be at your end as i can see Mike's second picture with the item and the coins .

Idk. I had this as well on two different browsers yielding the same result. No picture for me either. There is a link but when clicked it says:'Invalid Attachment specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator'
