Saturday was my birthday and I felt I was entitled to a birthday hunt....so, I headed to my favorite beach for a quickie....my first target was an 1897 Indian head penny (sorry, no pics) and as I was looking down something caught my eye....I scooped it up and couldn't believe what I found....my first ever clay pipe stem!!!....I never thought I would ever find one, especially at the beach!! Thanks for looking, HH...

Thats the closest I've seen one. A lot of work went into making that! It looks like Peter put a lot of pride into it :clapping:
Nice find Sandy! Way to keep your eyes peeled thumbsup01
Congrats!

Happy birthday Sandy, what a cool find. Finding old coins is great but finding cool colonial relics is just as fun :perfect10:. Thats a nice one! :clapping:

ohh..ohh i know a little about these clay pipes.
in england where im from there are loads of em , ya dig em up everywhere but its very rare to find one acturly whole.
i was told the reason for this was thay broke them after smoking the tobacco which you bought already inside the pipe .
you payed 1 penny for the pipe so thay got the nick name of penny pipes.

i feel faint now.....to much brain power........need to sit down........lol

A great relic , I've never even seen one from the dirt . Sure have found a lot of pot smoking paraphanelia the last few years though . Congrats on the Indian and Happy belated Birthday . |:cheering:
