Back to Walker park.....

Went back to the park again. Started a new grid area, hit a few clad pennies and a lot of junk numbers. Started heading to the area where I had the hunt Saturday. Started to get the deep Wheaties...then the soft ding in the earphones...a 42 Walker in the bottom of the hole....some cussing...some smiling...little shaking. About five feet away I pulled the the 25 Merc, really worn. The wheats are 40's and 50's really corroded...:(
Trying to get some hunts in during the week as the temps are heading down fast again. :shocked04:

Holy cow, ANOTHER walker! :wow:

I think "Walker Park" describes that place well! That is awesome!

There is something about those really worn Mercs that appeals to me as well. They just have so much character.

Congrats on another amazing hunt! :perfect10:

Nice going on the big silver. So jealous that you can hunt. Ground here is frozen with about 18" of snow on top of it to boot. Can't wait for spring.

Thanks folks, I'm enjoying my little honey hole before it dries up.... Going to try and get in another hunt before work tomorrow. Thursday the temps start heading south again, 30's for highs.....:shocked04:

Had a couple hours to go back today, found a 52 Rosie, 41s Merc , 45 Merc and three crusty wheats. Mom in law told me that the Carnival use to set up in that area in the 40s/50s

Yes sir, you've got yourself a real honey hole there! Fifteen silvers already this year and it's not even spring yet! It does seem that almost all of the old coins there were dropped in the 1940s or 1950s. I bet there are some Buffalo Nickels there too.

Congrats on another great hunt! :clapping:

Thanks Gents.....Old man winter has showed up, it's 30 with a wind chill of 11....:shocked04:. I'm going to stay inside as much as I hate too....:coffeelaugh: Looks like it might be next week before I can get back out with the cold weather and snow forecast for Monday and Tuesday.

I bet there are some Buffalo Nickels there too.

I was thinking the same thing Tony, I've been really watching the nickel numbers for chance at a old gold ring. Only pulled the war nickel and a 79 out so far.

Bundled up and went back out to Walker park....:) Was a little nippy at 34 and wind chill of 26! The cold and snow they forecast has been downgraded a bit so maybe some more hunts this weekend!:detecting:

Pulled a 41s Merc and 2 50 rosies, a crusty war nickel and one crusty Wheat. Don't understand why the Wheats and war nickels are so corroded, other wheats found on the other side of town look good. Theses are the first two war nickels I've found.
