ca 1910 Neighborhood - The Reality of a 2hr Sidewalk Tearout Hunt

I spent two hours on Saturday on a street/sidewalk project. I missed the sidewalk trench as they had already put in the new sidewalk on most of this, but was able to hit the edges, the terrace and some other areas where they spread dirt in the street. I found one older coin, a 1940S wheat cent. I just thought I would show everything as there were some old and interesting finds even though I did not score any silver.

Interesting post. I have been looking for a site like that. I would have thought you would have found silver.

Yep  Thats kinda how mine turned out too.
One thing I learned real quick is ,when hunting a tearout is, DIG ALL SIGNALS
I got a foil signal shallow and dug up a small, old, green, brass buckle :shocked01:  :dontknow:
Cool post
Congrats
Are you hunting in the roadbed too? Or just under the sidewalk?

Great post Darren. The shot of the street looks like a detectorists dream site.
Most of my street and sidewalk tear outs yield a lot less. You find some nice keepers here though.
Congrats. :clapping:

Did not hit too much in the road bed, just here and there where the dirt looked interesting. Will go back this weekend and hit it again. Thanks!

thumbsup01 Got-ya .
I did kinda the same thing. Except on the tearout I hunted, they left the sidewalks in .
I don't know about up there, but what I noticed was. In the parkway areas (between the pavement and the sidewalk) there will be a different colored dirt. I think this is the bottom of the original ditch line. That seemed to be were the oldest and best finds came from...for me :dontknow:
Good luck when you go back thumbsup01

I have been lucky with my hometown being all dug up. That picture of the street would have me drooling. Ya gotta go back, there has to be more goodies. Nice post, keep us posted
