:wow: That is an unusual item ! I bet it was done by a person that makes Coin Jewelry. My wife bought me a necklace of a Indian Head Penny with the field cut out. So, that's why I think it was done by someone like this. How they did it, I have now idea except they own some kind of machine that can stretch it out with heat. It's just a Novelty piece like when you go on Vacation and they have those gift shops where you put in a Coin and it flattens it out a piece of copper and stamps something on it.
Lee, can you post a Pic of the back of the coin ?
There's a guy in MA. with a website at www.differencecoin.com that make Coin Jewelry that might know how it was done. Check it out. :) You have to click Jewelry by Country on the left side of the page and look for United States. That's where all his Coin Jewelry is and he'll do any coin you want him to.

A very, very nice find lee. :clapping:

I've seen a few posted over the years, especially Mercs, but I'd love to dig one someday. :smitten:

Congrats on a great find. It is very unique.

me too but that one has the best details or the nicest one i've seen yet , a very cool find Lee. I believe they were a regular barber dime that was placed in a machine that stamped the image onto the coin. |:cheering:

That is a very nice, unique find. Congratulations!

I know you've likely done this, but l'd scour that entire area with a fine tooth comb looking for the rest of the original piece. Seems certainly worth the extra time.

Awesome find, Lee! :loveit:

Definitely not a common find, although I have seen a few of them posted on various forums. Most of the ones I have seen have been a Mercury Dime.

The placement of the loop is rather odd, it seems that the pendant would hang upside down. :thinkingabout:

Congrats on the cool and unusual find! |:cheering:

Lee, I think they are called pop up coins. The one I found was a ring made from a Barber dime. I'm not sure but I remember them being done by sidewalk vendors (artists) and you supplied the dime and some more $$, and they did it for you. Yours may have been part of a bracelet. Great find

:omg: Wonderful find, and very unusual. As far as who made it, they had a lot of time on their hands. :clapping: :clapping:
