Howdy!

Just in general. I always have an ear out for proven new technology lol

The Gamma 6000 is a up dated version of the Bountyhunter Platinum. It offers a manual ground balance feature(which is incredibly simple to use) that the Platinum does not. The response to signals has been tweaked to be similar to the Omega 8000. It has an incredibly quick recovery time and target separation is off the chart in trashy areas. I recommend to anyone considering purchasing a Teknetics product to get the 5 inch DD coil as well if you are going to be hunting in parks and tot lots or school grounds. The small coil will go deeper than you would expect and is like a razorblade in the ground, letting you slice through the trash like a precision instrument. (that last line is pretty good huh?) I have dug 2 wheat pennies at 7 to 7 and 1/2 inches with this coil, measured with my digger. Both of these targets gave a high tone with a solid VID number. I truly believe it will go a bit deeper over the right target, but that is my opinion.. While the Omega offers a couple more bells and whistles, the Gamma seems to run a little hotter according to an individual (on another site) who has both. He and his wife check targets behind each other and the Gamma, according to him, would go a little deeper than his Omega with a more stable VID. (His detectors in his soil, but noteworthy non the less.) I know of one other gentleman who also has both detectors and can't decide which one he likes best from day to day. Mine air tested (with the stock coil) Between 7 to 12 inches...the lower number giving a repeatable VID# and the higher number giving an appropriate identifying tone. Similar results with the 11 DD coil. I am quite happy with mine. I have to get up and go to work. We just stopped in Memphis for fuel and supplies and I gotta be on watch in 15 minutes. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum from snowy Colorado,Capt. I recently purchased a 6000 for the wife as the Whites MXT was a bit heavy for her to swing for a long time and you are right. The thing looks like a toy at first but is a great little detector for the price. Be sure to post your finds. It helps to see finds when it is freezing outside.
