Hunt with Digger Don = Indian Head, Walker and Silver Dimes

I met up with Digger Don and his son Alec this morning for some detecting at a couple of parks. It was cold and windy but we had a lot of fun anyway. The temperature was 26 degrees when we started hunting, but hey, at least the ground wasn't frozen!

At the first park we hunted at I found a 1906 Indian Head Cent and a couple of wheat cents. This park has been hunted heavily and finds were sparse, so we decided to try a different site.

At the second site I found the 1943 Walking Liberty Half within the first 5 minutes. I also got 3 silver Rosies at this site and a few wheat cents. By about 2:30 in the afternoon I was just about frozen so we called it a day and went our separate ways.

I thought I was just going to go home but after I rode in the car with the heater cranked up I decided to stop at "Silver Park" on the way home and try my luck there. I found 2 Mercs and several wheat cents before I decided that I couldn't take the cold any more.

It was nice meeting Don and his son and I hope to hunt with them again!

I was thrilled to find a Walker. It was a perfect signal at about 7" deep.

I found this old sewing machine bobbin with the thread still in it:

And the junk:

That's it! Thanks for looking and happy hunting! :beerbuddy:

That's a very nice cache of cash! The bobbin is pretty nifty. And all the "trash". I use the trash as bartering: I'll pick up your trash if you let me hunt! So it's not all bad!

Wow, That Walking Liberty cleaned up really nice. Thanks again for taking us to a couple of your spots. We had a great day.
Congrats on your 6 Silver day.

dang man! you dug in a few hours what i usually take a few weeks to gather up. congrats on a great day's hunting ! gotta love those walkers !

your a machine !! Tony :notworthy: the reverse of the walking liberty halves have a great majestic looking eagle , sweet coins :loveit:

Very nice hunt Tony. All them silvers and a ton of wheats. :clapping:I hate it that some of the deep wheats almost register as silvers. Nice green Indian too. Not a lot of junk considering on how may coins you have. You cherry pick good

Great job Tony, and echo the earlier comment about the impressive low ratio of trash to goodies on your hunt!
