This is the reason I hunt... the MYSTERY.... of an old site... :happydance01:

My friends own some property on Kentucky River and invited me to hunt a site with only chimney and foundation remnants. They have no history on the site or owner. Was happy to pull this out of the earth ... in the shot with the plug and V3i on ground, you can see the fireplace and how close it was to the old house. No coins, but still exciting to find a WW1 general service army button. It says New York City Button Works on the back. The marble is pretty special in my heart- wondering who played with it and if still alive today...

Another hunt -this house site is just a pile of rubble behind the tree with domestic iris/lilies. The house burned down years back and I have no info on it except that it burned (insurance $ perhaps). The 8 reale says 'Republic Mexicana' and by the looks of it burned in the fire, can't read a date but says Libertad in center of reverse w/starburst. At first I thought it was a religious medallion. I can read some of the initials and think it might be 1823-1832. Any help identifying it would be great! :blush: Yes that is super glue on the edge- I tried to flatten it with a hammer and a piece broke off!

Check out the 'extra fine' condition of the 1884 IH :smitten:

And lastly, today's hunt- I wish I had taken my camera!!! The old house built in 1894 looks like a castle... my first time there. Unfortunately they'll be on vacation for a couple weeks and don't want me there until they return. Am bummed that the 1969 Canadian quarter is nickel- they stopped minting in silver in mid 1968 >:{

Wow, great hunting and great photos! That Indian Head is gorgeous! Did you find the broken arrowhead while metal detecting?

those are some great locations to hunt at Tana , probably a little too grown it on the first one but worth more trips in the fall and spring. the button came out beautifully :shocked04: nice job :clapping: :clapping: and the second location looks real nice too the stones look like the retaining wall for the foundation ( we see alot of them on the early house sites) and yes your mexican 8 reale looks to be about the age you said . still a great find and a whole lot of silver , :peace: i'm glad your getting some time to get out .

Awesome finds Tana!!! Love the scenery :peace: A HAMMER? >{

:embarrassed: I was a little eager to flatten it... I should've put it between 2 boards... But it's so bent and burnt and pitted I didn't think I could do toooo much more damage to it lol

What a hunt !!!!The pictures are fantastic too !!!! 8 Reales was a small fortune back in the day , you don't see those posted very often . That Indian is incredible . Is that marble porrous or really smooth ? Is the dark area of the marble one continous swirl or broken up ? If you have the time to take a couple of closer and different angled pictures I have a marble book and may be able to identify it for you. Nice going Tana . thumbsup01 thumbsup01 :clapping:

Some very nice finds indeed Tana, great hunt.

I stopped hunting cellar holes because of all the foliage until Fall. I'm just sticking to yards and open areas right now but sure do miss hunting the old foundations.

Hey Baba that'd be great! The dark part is porous and the swirl is broken up. It seems REALLY old.... I'll take some more pics for you :)

Awesome finds! :happydance01: Nice mix of keepers there. Also, I really enjoyed the photos of your hunting grounds! :yes:
