my best day in a while

went to an old 40's house that i got permission to plunder.. fist target that wasnt junk was a 44 quarter, then claddage.. found the 1901 injun in the same hole with a watch body. it was junk so i threw it away.. then my first large cent an 1848, its been holed so i think it was not lost as change. but who knows. the old key is a master lock lion key..enjoy

Ain't nothing better than digging up old coppers and silver like that,congrats on the first of many large cents to come!!!
 
We find a few coins with hole's in them here in Northern Cal. Back in the day they used to put a hole in them so they can tie the coins to there clothing with a string or twine. The railroad laborers/ miners etc. were afraid if they just put them in there pocket they would fall out while they were working. Nice find!
