My son made his first great find yesterday!

I bought my son a detector for Christmas last year. Yesterday, he made his first significant find. He found a late 1800's to early 1900's piece of coal scrip from Monarch Coal & Coke Company in Wilmont, KY. This token is rare as hen's teeth! This was a very small mine when men mined the coal by hand with picks and shovels. Mules hauled the coal to the outside on little carts. The men were paid with company money and spent it at the company store. I have been digging for 22 years and started out digging in coal camps. My son is following in the old man's footsteps. Coming from a token lover..... That's awesome!!!:groovy:
Congrats to Jr.!! :congrats:

I've started collecting all the scatter tags that I find. But I've never seen a coal mine store card! Sweet!

I love tokens too. I dug in coal camps for 10 years before moving on to Civil War sites and now Colonial relics. Have you got a scatter tag from Karst Robbins Coal Company? If not, I can send you one.

No need to trade. I have extras from Karst Robbins. I can mail it to you or may see you next week during the Mid-West Invasion!

I don't believe that I do. I think I have some doubles too. I'll trade ya!
