EDIT-Yeah, Yeah...forget about what I wrote earlier lol I added a cleaner pic of that coin. I NOW lol think it is a 1600s William and Mary :crossfingers: See the GVIL lower left?? I also posted a similar coin, not the exact match. Whaddaya think? ( I also added a pic suitable for bannerdom lol )

I spent 10 hours over two days at this new site I found. I thought I had a virgin site because-
1-It wasn't on a map.
2-I found my first complete drawer plate three feet from the cellar hole as I first walked up to the site.
3-The first 90 min produced the drawer plate, three flat buttons, a bent dandy, and two spoon bowls.

Well, the next eight hours produced the rest of the stuff, including the one coin/token. ::huh::

Can anyone make out what is on that thing? It isn't large copper size, but larger than 2 cent size. :dontknow: The back is REALLY wiped, and no trace of button attachments.

Also, anyone know anything about that cut stone with the 2 bowls hollowed out? It's right near the well. the second picture of that stone shows the well on top.

There's lots more to explore at this site but its a lot of bush whacking. No clear swinging areas :(

Thanks everyone, Shoe

PS Did anyone see the new second season of &quot:beerbuddy:ob's Burgers? They open with metal detecting lol

Re: New Hole

Nice long hunt there buddy :shocked04: I'm not sure what the coin is or if it is even a coin. Sorta remember a button pattern like that. Would have to see it under a loop. Great hunt. I share your pain in thinking it's gonna be a virgin cellar hole lol We do it all the time. But for a first hunt it was pretty successful. As for the hollowed out rock :thinkingabout: Maybe grinding corn or wheat for bread?

Re: New Hole

Drew , you'll know when you have a virgin site because you should have atleast two three coins , a couple of knee or shoe buckles and about 10 to 15 buttons in the first 20 minutes. I will say there are some nice high vdi targets there and so it might not be hit very well or just cherry picked . whats the reverse of that coin-like item look like ??

Really nice digs Drew! Not sure which is cooler, the dual mortars or the William & Mary :congrats:
The W and M lol. Hey, didn't you recently find the same coin?

Nice pictures. I'm not sure if it is exactly that, but close. There seems to be writing above the bust on your coin. On the pictured one, there is just open space above the busts. But it may just be the die variety or some other reason for the shifted letters. Can you make out what it says above the busts? Could it be Maria?

Thanks everyone, yep George...that pic is just one of the examples, not the exact one. I'll look through some more to try and find it.

It looks more like this one. :dontknow:

Here is the back... the 16 and crown are clearly visible :bananadance: happydance02
