We knew that New Years Day was going to be a cold one but we just had to get out before the real cold and snow arrives. I had my eye on a sight that I spotted a few days ago. Not knowing if there would be a cellar hole in this area, we decided to go for it anyway. After a good hike into the woods, we came across what I was hoping to find. An old cellar hole:happydance02: and within a couple of minutes my coil found a deep target around 6 inches down. I big cloaker...good sign:yes: More buttons continued to find the coil with 3 cloaks and a total of 13 buttons all together. I was barely hearing some deep signals with the 6x10 so I thought I would throw on the 12" coil too see if I was missing targets just beyond the 6x10's reach. That's when I got my 1st coin signal that was around 8" if you count the twigs and leave cover that was on top of the target. When I turned over the plug I saw the small disc and immediately knew I had a half cent, a 1805 Draped Bust half cent that cleaned up real nice:shocked03:. This little lady is One of the better conditioned copper coins I have ever dug.
Good Luck all in 2014...
