seated silver today

Got out to a site today that has produced some old coins, but never a silver older than a merc or SLQ. Nailed one today tho, an 1857 seated Q. <: <: <:

This was an interesting target, dancing between CO 43 and 45 on the E-Trac at 4 inches; normally one might think it is a clad dime or memorial penny, as most of the silver around here doesn't even start until you get to 5 or 6 inches, but it had that sound that gets E-Tracers' blood pumping. :smitten:

I figured it was an affected silver, one with junk (ferrous or otherwise) in the hole that was mucking with the numbers, especially since it was a pain in the butt to pinpoint. Turns out not only that, but it was on its side. I expected a merc, in all honesty, and when I saw the eagle, at first I thought it was a Barber. Boy was I shocked when I realised what I had found at only 4 inches. <: <: <:

(And BTW, it came out of the ground with the gash, not my fault :angelic:).

Thanks for looking and HH.
