I was fortunate to be able to get out this evening for an hour or two before sunset. I was planning on hitting a local school, but the wooded area I had hunted earlier in the week was calling to me, so I headed there instead. Once again I was glad I gave it a go. Targets were few but almost all of the good ones were nice keepers. I dug 5 coins total - 2 modern pennies, a 1927 wheat, a Buffalo nickel, and an 1865 two cent piece in very nice shape. I also got some nifty relics including a older looking suspender buckle, a large bullet, and a lead circle with two holes and VII on it. Any ideas on the last item would be appreciated. I have to say with finds like this I could get used to hunting in the woods pretty fast. The mosquitoes were horrendous already, but that's not a bad trade off for the relative quiet and lack of people. I'm hoping there is some nice silver somewhere at this spot. I always struggle a bit when I find a promising new hunting spot - do I save it for future hunts, or pound the heck out of it right away?
Happy hunting!
