Toasted and roasted coppers but a SWEET little silver

It had been a month since I last got out to swing the coil. Sometimes life just gets in the way of the stuff we really like to do:yes:. I hit a chunk of woods not too far from a cellar hole I have had good luck at.

I started hitting lamp parts and horse hardware pretty quickly. First nice find was the WW1 collar pin that I posted yesterday. Just a few minutes later I nailed an 1833 Capped Bust dime. First silver of the year for me . First Capped Bust dime too. :happydance01:

The rarest find of the day was probably this Eastern Box turtle. Getting pretty scarce around here. First one I have seen in 4 or 5 years. This was a female who probably laid her eggs in the nearby sandy soil.

Not far from the turtle and near the old cellar hole, I pulled what I think is a toatsted KG halfpenny and what looks like farthing that was burnt in a fire.

I was happy just to get out in the woods. Making some good finds was a nice bonus!

Stay safe!

Jeff

That is STUNNING! I love the toning, and it has amazing details! :loveit: One of the best Capped Bust coins I've ever seen!

Those Capped Bust dimes are really sweet, I like too that they are bigger than the later dimes. That's one that is on my list.

Jeff, THAT IS ONE BEAUTIFUL COIN!!:clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping: I hope there is more land there.

What a beautiful condition Capped Bust Dime  Nice patina and stunning shape :beerbuddy: That has got to be XF+?.....$300.00 +

Thanks everyone. I don't find a lot of silver. I looked back in my records and the last silver I found previous to this Capped Bust dime was the Capped Bust Quarter I have as my avatar. And that was found in April of 2013!

Wow! George I looked in my Redbook and I guessed the coin might be worth $75 to $100. My Redbook was printed in 1991 :embarrassed:

another Capped Dime Posting...wow! I am jealous. still trying to get my first capped bust silver:daydream:

Jeff, that capped bust dime is just downright beautiful! Look at the rims on it. Razor sharp! That thing must have been brand new when it was dropped. Incredible detail and nice even color.

Spectacular find! :notworthy:

Box turtles are becoming very scarce here in Illinois too. It really makes me sad. I remember when I was a kid they were everywhere. I haven't seen one in years.

Thanks everyone. Tony, with regards to the silver, if I only average just 1 a year, it might as well be a nice one . With regards to the box turtle, it used to said their only enemies were cars and kids. Now it's just cars because kids don't go out in the woods anymore. But unfortunately there are a lot more cars now then when we were kids.
