Token/Coin LIARS!!

I was finally able to get back to :detecting:today :cheesysmile:

3/4 mile into the woods and I found a very small hole. It had an abandoned road running up to it. I wish I took pictures of the beauty in the woods today but AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR DAT! :lol: I didn't even check to see if I could get a date off (what I thought was) a half-cent. I don't stop digging for anything...unless I get peckish...then I gotta eat :grin:

The coin/token thing says "LIARS" then the second line starts with an "F." Then below that looks to be a Fleur-de-lis. Anyone know what it is? Thanks for looking, Drew

ita a liard de france ( a coin) and probably from the mid to late 1600's Drew. check the bust outline to one of these Drew the top one is late 1600's and the bottom is mid 1600's

THANKS DAN! I just cleaned it more and can definitely now see the "De France" Good Gravy Dan... How'd you know this? :lol: You are the best IDer on the planet :notworthy:
 
Wow. Those are from Belgium. Another to ponder 'how in the heck did this end up here'? Drew, are you going for oldest finds? Between this and the coins you got when we were last out seems like you are going for age. Nice find tho. 1600 's and the lettering was fairly legible. (I got hosed this weekend with nothing but clad)
 
Thanks Jim, I wasn't able to get out this weekend but made up for it today. :) Thank you Tony, It is my 4th 1600s in just over a year :yahoo:
I think it is a 1697. It definitely has the newer bust Dan and I think it looks like 1697.
Oh btw, the dog tag is 1934 :lol:

I think so too, but then the bust wouldn't match....right? See that indian head looking thing on top of his head?
 
Nice coin Drew. I found 2 so far. One a long time ago and this one more recently. Congrats on a very early piece of American history. :clapping: You are dipping back into a very early time period of trading.

From what I've read England would only trade for colony goods because they were afraid if they gave the colonist money they would spend it elsewhere. So it was common for early American colonist to use foreign currencies.
