About three weeks ago I cleaned my head real good. Sprayed on camp dry( spray used to seal tent seams 13% silicone) 3 coats letting it dry between coats. Normal I can run my 1500 on sensitivity 9 without falsing. If I hit wet grass sometimes I back it off to 8. With the camp dry on I can run it up to 11 and at one point to 12. Went back to a sight that I hunted several times with the new sensitivity settings at 11 and dug out a 1877 fifty cent piece and a 1943 Quarter . Is that possible.The water just beads right off. Seams to be more stable at higher sensitivity settings.

I don't see why that would make a difference, on my MXT I always run the gain at the same setting usually the only thing that would effect that would be high EMI area's. The grass being wet or dry doesn't seem to make a difference on my detector though.

It can`t hurt. Your results seem to speak for them self. If I found something that helped me make a find like that, I would keep doing it. People keep going over hunted sites, and still come up with more finds. I don`t know every thing about detecting, but I keep learning every time I go out.

I don't see how it could affect the detector either. It could be pure coincedence. Keep track of sensitivity levels at the same sight and see if they return to normal, or change in any other ways on future hunts.

The only possible thing that comes to mind is that maybe it is preventing static charge buildup on the coil. Don't know, just a thought.

Keeping moisture from the coil might have helped also. We all know electronics work best when dry not wet.

None of the electronics are getting wet. The coils are sealed and waterproof.
