Turkey day detecting

Kinda drizzly day and the ground was all wet....perfect for detecting!!! Hit an older house and had pounded this yard many times before. Today I found another Remington target slug, a 1918 wheatie and a button that raced my pulse for a minute when I saw the gold color, but was just a tease...backmark says Robinson and Co Extra Rich front is smooth. Also found a 1851 deux centimes Republic of Haiti Coin front of it I can;t read for now but do have it soaking. All in all a much better day than stuffing myself full of turkey!! thumbsup01

Me too...this one bout gave me a heart attack when I saw the size and color and weight of it....my intial thought reaction was gold coin...but should have known better.... :crying02:

Nice hunt. We get a good amount of those flat buttons, but rarely do you get them with that much gold color left. Kinda gives you an idea of what a jacket would have looked like with 6 of those lined up!! Nice coin also. thumbsup01

Well this is the best I could get the Haiti coin cleaned up...not sure what is on the front of it...almost looks like some kind of anchor with a hat on top of it...

Got this from someone on antother forum....the image is a fasces with a liberty cap perched on it.
...below is what it would look like..

Fasces symbolize summary power and jurisdiction, and/or strength through unity. Fasces frequently occur as a charge in heraldry, and should not be confused with the related term, fess, which in French heraldry is called a fasce. The traditional Roman fasces consisted of a bundle of white birch rods, tied together with a red leather ribbon into a cylinder, and often including a bronze axe amongst the rods, with the blade on the side, projecting from the bundle.
