2 mercs and a wheat

Went out with Scott today and he patiently drove me around a bit and then to our destination which was closed off. We ended up doing the fringe areas of the fairgrounds. 1st spot...deep clad...ouch :shocked04:...6 plus. Scott managed an IH there 8).

Moving across the street, I hit a broken tone that was deep and I knew it had to be good. Turned out to be the 43 merc. :) very nice. Didn't dig any clad here. Then a few minutes later a similar deep tone that was a digger and the 29 S merc. Also had another deepie that was near iron. I was sure this was a coin but I could not locate it. Usually u get the null over the dirt pile and remove that item to find ur coin but it was so littered with iron fragments I couldn't find it. Perhaps it was never there as another minute or 2 of swinging and I still couldn't get the tone back:(
Dug 1 wheat, a number of screw on bottle tops and various garbage. Wish we would have been able to get in and find some real old stuff, like seated, 1/2 cents etc. Getting cold here, not much time left but happy to pull out 2 more silvers!

Maybe next time. thumbsup01

Beautiful mercs! A very nice day for sure :)

Everyone is making me envious with all the great finds. I can't wait for the weekend.

Nice double silver day. Mercs are a real nice looking coin. I miss those types of coins! All we have is Plain Jane coins these days. Disclaimer: Didn't mean to offend anyone named Jane, or anyone thinking of naming their kid Jane, or especially my wife, who's middle name is Jane lol lol ;)

Those dimes are in beautiful shape, Aaron.
Now, do this with 'em:
