Couple of Coppers, cool Token

Lodge Scent

Headed back to the site where I pulled a NJ copper a few weeks back. This site is badly overgrown and I figured this might be the last weekend to detect before it is impossible to swing a coil.

How thick is it ? Well it is so thick that Mrs. Turkey made her nest right on the edge of the cellar hole.

I saw her sneaking back to the nest when I moved to the other side.

First good hit was an 1837 token.

I may need some help with the ID.

I pulled an ox knob right from the middle of the brook without managing to fall in.

In a really thick patch of briars I managed to find an 1848 and an 1839 Large Cent.

Glad I was detecting alone today because I would have bet my house to anyone with me that the slotted scythe handle thing was another copper. This site has given up a few of those.

And what's a hunt with out a deer tick. See if you can spot it.

Stay safe!

Jeff, I love the green color of everything from that site. I can't find the tick, I tried to enlarge it too. That is one super hunt!!:congrats:

a 3 copper day is a great day Jeff :perfect10: with the oxknob and brass collar it very well could of been a 5 copper day . too bad the place is so overgrown there are a lot of high value targets in the area.

evidently the tick was just lost Jeff , and wanted to get his bearings from your compass

Your token was from Edward Sise. Founder of the firm of general commission and forwarding merchants which issued this card was born in Dover N.H. On Sept 19 1799 and died May 25 1868. The partner in this business was John Walker. More information can be found in Rulau's book United States Tokens page 152. Nice to know what those slotted things are I have found at least a half dozen of them!

Dan, the tick was lost because it can't get through my Rynoskins :thumbsup02: Drew, take a south-southwest bearing and you will see the tick ;)

Love the coppers of course  I think I have that same token, but I never searched it. That '48 cleaned up nicely.

Good eyes Giant ! It's amazing that something that small can cause so much misery.

You should see the little ticks :shocked04: They are almost invisible.

That site certainly looks overgrown. Three coppers is about what I get in a good "year". :congrats:on the keepers, throw the tick back.
