Found an 1879 tie tack/cuff link

I'm sorry to say I haven't been out MD'ing much the last few months. The weather has been great here lately so I decided to go to a small unmarked park not far from here. I hunted it hard with my DFX that last few years and managed a large cent and a very nice 1861 half dime.

I wasn't expecting to find much but it was nice to be out swinging. The V3 was hitting pretty deep and I pulled 3 old IH's, no dates but definitely 1800's. I also found this neat tie tack, or maybe it is a cuff link.

What makes this such a nice find is that it is engraved on the back (very small print):

It says: Pat July 29 1879

Nice finds. If that back piece swivels, then I would guess cuff link. A good amount of gold left on the relic. I guess there is more there to find. Hope you like the V3.

Glad to see you got back out Schrecky, nice roosie and I beleive the other is a shirt button tack probably for a tuxedo. thumbsup01

That is a very cool find for sure, Schrecky. :)

That is a beautiful find! You and the V3 are definitely getting along well :)

Glad that you made it over here! :)

Very nice find, Schreck!
Definitely gold, to be in that good a shape, being in the dirt.
Looks like an onyx in there, and that's great ta boot! Sweet Rosie (in great shape), too! thumbsup01
