Todd and I had looked at a potential area with lots of walls.but it was private property.Todd's friend Tom who recently bought a MXT knew the guy and got us permission.the land has been in his family for years and said nobody's ever detected it as far as he knew.with high hopes we went in.found 2 sites both were hit real good! I managed a few buttons.2 lead balls and a 1st for me.a complete all iron colonial shoe buckle! :cheering:
was a nice day to get out with Todd & Tom!

with extra salt too. now i'm hungry:lol:

lol at pretzel! i'm suprised the thing held up! never find a complete iron shoe buckle.this is rarer than George going a day without losing something! i steel and brass brushed it good as i could.popped it in the oven and 450 for an hour caoted it with hair spray,i forgot to add salt though!

Nice iron buckle Dave :thumbsup01: Complete ones are hard to come by. I wouldn't chance zapping it, it may just break apart. Did you baste it too?

Nice shoe buckle Dave. Love the buttons also. I see you relic hunter post a lot of shoe buckle but I never knew that an all iron one was rare to find. What material are show buckles usually made of?

Iron buckle...neat. Wonder how those things looked back in the day when it was actually on someones shoe? Was it nearly as rusty then? I'd imagine you'd have to keep that thing dry nearly all the time, and folks worked outside alot back then.
