It turned out unrecognizable...

Got out for a bit today and hit 2 old fields sporatically.
I was whoopin' Krom's butt when I started popping coins, even though they were all clad...
And theeen... I popped a copper.
I was feeling bad for him but just before we left he popped a copper.
His has a teeny bit of detail. Mine has none. crying01
Here's a pic of what I found, and a before pic of the copper.
The after pic of the copper is useless. All I did was rinse it in water and gently brushed it with a toothbrush.

Nice stuff Snowy! Can't help you with the copper. Perhaps one of the Noreasters will recognize it. That vertical line should be a hint I would think.

Very nice Donna! I love to see those coppers, even though they tend to come out in tough shape sometimes. Hope someone can recognize it.

I like the token too... what is it?

Epi, it's a cover to something.. it says Puncture & Pull Up.. it's tin. I saw just the edge of it sticking out of the dirt and accidentally yelled, You gotta be (poopin') me! Then I pulled it from the dirt and realized it was a cover. crying01

As for the copper, there's no hope. It's a disk. We'll never know what it was.
I told Krom it was the same as what he got because they were found in close proximity to each other,
and they looked very much the same when they came out of the ground, except mine is a smidgen smaller from corrosion (so mine's older  ). I'll let him show you what HIS is.

decent day Snowy , the copper's prognosis doesn't look good (was it in a field where ya found it , as the fertilizer is very harmful) when they appear to be worn smooth or there just toast and i want to just identify it , i'll often use a brass brush with some soap and any high spots will leave some detail to what it was .can ya get an idea as to what it is by the thicknes ( about the same as a large cent , a state copper or a british copper ) if you got any others around to go by.

Dan

Yeah, Del, it's prolly a large cent... not a fatty....
Barely smaller around than Krom's (corrosion... it's BARELY smaller around... almost exact).

That's another thing... her's is a little thinner than mine (probably 'cause hers got a few direct plops of annual manure... so MINE COULD BE OLDER!).
Jus' ribbin' ya, babe!
Here's what mine cleaned up to:

Yeah, his is one of those flowing hair LCs. You can see the silhouette good in person. The pic of his has the front too dark.
