Matron, Draped, Hail Columbia

Sniffy and I apparently had similar hunts
Got out with merc and another friend today and had my first double large copper day :happydance01:. They have lots of detail under that last layer of smooth green crud. Also found the tombac, flat button, and hail Columbia button. The 1918 merc, saddle shield, and ox knob are from yesterday. Thank you for looking, Drew

Thanks everyone, thanks Dan, that is the front. The back is iron and corroded....like some of my rosettes....but it isn't large enough for that. Its about the size of a large cent.

I recently found one of the Hail Columbia Button/Badge you mention above, in Great Barrington, MA. I'm commenting as I would love to have some more info on this piece.

Here are the pics of mine. Its diameter is about 32cm and its weight is 6.5 grams. Any help is VERY appreciated.

So far, all I can find is the following info: The below book written in 1862, with description below it that i think perfectly matches what I found.. But gives no further listing besides miscellaneous political medals, etc.

"*An Arrangement of Medals and Tokens Struck in Honor of the Presidents of the United States, and of the Presidential Candidates, from the administration of John Adams to that of Abraham Lincoln, inclusive.* By Alfred H. Satterlee: 1369. An eagle with shield hanging from its beak, “Hail Columbia” above, struck over a U.S. cent; fine and rare, size 18"

There is also a button referenced:

and on this site: http://purplepeg1.blogspot.com/2011/03/hail-columbia-button.html
But it is not exactly the same thing.

Is it possible for anyone to identify the type of object the Hail Columbia item is based on the photo below? Here's hoping :)

I.e. is it a button? If so, how did it originally connect to a shirt/jacket? Many thanks!
Would it make sense for me to cross post this in the 'What is it' Forum? forgive me, I'm new... :notworthy:

it is a button , late 1800's with an iron back that rusted away as well as the wire loop .
