New Colonial site Saturday *Spanish silver and possible early Naval button

So Saturday Dave and I found a new spot. We walked circles around the site before we finally found it:duh:

I always expect every site we hit to be hammered and this one was no exception but we never let that discourage us as it is the norm yet, we still always manage to walk away with some keepers.

I was rewarded with a 1794 Half Reale and what I believe to be an early 1800's US Reverse Naval button. I am hoping someone can confirm this with the button. anyway, thanks for looking and Happy Holiday's all.

awesome coin and buttons.I was told that overstock military buttons were sold to civilians hence the shank soldered on face.I would think it was un American for the military to issue a hidden eagle on the back of a uniform button

Great finds Todd. I like the 1/2 real. It has a strong date and good detail. The button is interesting. Perhaps someone's first and last day on the job at the button factory?! LOL. Best wishes and HH, Dave.

Thanks a mill for confirming that Dan. That was what I wanted to hear so now I believe Mr. Wise needs to eat crow:poke:. Dan, I was hoping you could chime in about the two oval brass pieces< I have dug quite a few but never got a 100% ID on them. I was thinking they might be some sort of saddle boss deco?

Great Hunt Todd Spanish Silver is something I may never find huge congrats that navy button is great and that Big Dandy button is cool as well :thumbsup02:
